Bear Lake - This picture is from a hike that my brother and I did in the middle of Aug 2001. We made it to 7 lakes and 2 waterfalls in a day hike. Bear Lake was the first lake that we saw and it probably was at about 8am or so. The wind hadn't started up yet so the water was completely calm and I was able to get a perfect reflection of Hallett Peak I believe. It was amazing. I'm wishing that I would have stayed there a bit longer. Submitted by Jeff Rastrelli [Medium Size] [Full Size (768 x 1024, 186kB)] [Add comments about this photo] [View comments] |

Amazing amounts of granite in Upper Glacier Gorge. Longs Peak is the highest summit in the picture; the Keyhole can be seen on the ridge to the left. The picture shows a part of the Longs Peak hike where one passes the sections known as the Ledges and the Through. The other peaks in the picture are: Mt. Meeker, behind Longs just to the right; Pagoda, the pyramid shaped peak; and Chief Heads Peak, just barely in the picture on the right side. This stunning view of the high peaks in Rocky Mountain National Park is captured from the top of Stone Man Pass on the way to McHenrys Peak. I did this hike in August 2001 with Charlotte De Fraiture.
