Sometimes the end of the day is the most spectacular. If you visit the park make sure you take the time to enjoy at least one sunset. This was shot while my husband (see image #34) and father-in-law fished for cutthroat trout in Lily Lake. It's a little underexposed, but that really brings out the magnificent colors of the evening.Submitted by Russell & Jill Brown [Medium Size] [Full Size (1024 x 657, 111kB)] [Add comments about this photo] [View comments] |

Lake Helene below Flattop Mountain. - I took these last June on the trail that goes from Bear Lake to Fern Lake Trailhead. It's a fantastic hike, and when the shuttle is running, you can get a ride back up to your car at Bear Lake Trailhead. In our case, we used Emerald Taxi based in Estes Park because the Shuttle hadn't started yet. I asked myself, "Is it worth the $20 taxi fee to see these sights?" What, are you kidding? Sky Pond - This picture is from a hike that my brother and I did in the middle of Aug 2001. We made it to 7 lakes and 2 waterfalls in a day hike. Sky Pond was our final destination and Lake number 7. We ended up losing the trail on the way to it and were about 100 ft above the lake. It was neat to be looking down on the lake though. Once down by the lake I could see how crystal clear and surprisingly calm the water was. It was also nice to see some snow/glacier up in the mountains. I would like to see this lake earlier in the summer when there is more snow.
