Weathered Roots - I am almost always shoot color film but in this shot of the root system of a fallen pine, color seemed distracting, so I converted it to grayscale. The fallen pine is on the trail to Dream Lake, as you go around Nymph Lake and start to climb. Taken about 2pm with a Nikon N75 SLR, 28-80zoom and polarizer filter on Kodak 400 Max color film. Hallett Peak and Flattop Mountain across Sprague Lake in the early morning glow of sunrise. It was very cold and windy that morning, but the beautiful views amply rewarded us for our discomfort.
