270.  Longs Peak from Chasm Lake.  My son and I started our trek to Chasm Lake at the same time that we would if we were going for the summit.  We took the Chasm Lake route and arrived at the lake just before sunrise.  The alpine glow that you see in the photo is the real color that we saw.  It only lasted for about 10 minutes.  You can see the dark clouds that hovered around the summit the entire time we were at the lake.

269.  The fall colors frame Longs Peak to make this a beautiful shot of such a majestic mountain.  We visit Rocky Mountain National Park twice a year in all seasons and found the fall colors were breathtaking.  This is one of our favorites of Longs Peak.  Taken September 23, 2006.

265.  We had been hiking in the rain for more than an hour when it finally slowed to a steady drip.  Moments later we came over a rise and this was the view.  It was a frantic rush to get the camera out of the pack before this scene vanished.  I did darken it a bit in Photoshop but this is really what was there.  Long's never stops amazing me with its many mood changes.
