Bear Lake - My boyfriend and I visited the park late August. It was my first time seeing mountains and I fell in love with them instantly. If I had to pick my best picture it would be this one from the trail around Bear Lake. It looks like a painting to me. Alberta Falls - July 22, 2005 My wife and I have been visiting RMNP for nearly a decade now. We took a break in 2004 and were glad to return this year. We had never been to Alberta Falls and having hiked the Odessa Trail a few days before we really needed a short one. Having seen many midday pictures of the falls I wanted to get there before the crowds and lighting ruined the shot. I took a lot of frames of the falls and the shooting area is somewhat limited, but I really liked the way this one came out. I think many people pass through this area quickly on their way to Timberline Falls or beyond before the afternoon showers come, but for us on this day this was the perfect hike. It's also a good first hike or acclimation hike for those of us coming up from near sea level! The image was shot with a Konica Minolta 7D on a tripod. Exposure was 1/8 sec @ f/8 with +5ev compensation. ISO was 100 and an 81a filter was used to warm the shadows. Thanks to all the photographers that contribute to the site for making my images better. Bear Lake - This picture was taken on July 18, 2005. My very first activity at RMNP is always to walk around Bear Lake and take a picture from this angle. Usually Long's Peak is visible, but on this morning it was hidden by low clouds. Submitted by RhondaM [Medium Size] [Full Size (1021 x 586, 123 kB)] [Add comments about this photo] [View comments] |

Flowers near Upper Ouzel Falls campsite. An old man I met while hiking out told me he has hiked the whole park and Upper Ouzel campsite is the best in the park. Submitted by Leemiester [Medium Size] [Full Size (1024 x 683, 242kB)] [Add comments about this photo] [View comments] |
