Deserted Village is three miles from the lesser-used North Fork trailhead.  Although the trail starts in Roosevelt National Forest, the trail enters RMNP after four miles of hiking.  All that is left of the hunting lodge built by the Earl of Dunraven is one structure, which is in pretty bad shape.  Still it was interesting to ponder the dysentery epidemic, which put the resort out of business in 1909.  We didn't drink the water.  Taken June 7, 2003
