This is the Ship's Prow adjacent to Chasm Lake. I had a hard time visualizing this formation since I had never seen it from a ground position in other peoples' photos.
On this morning, my son and I started our trek to Chasm Lake. We left at the same time that we would if we were going for the summit. We took the Chasm Lake route and arrived at the lake just before sunrise. The alpine glow that you see in the photo is the real color that we saw. It only lasted for about 10 minutes. You can see the dark clouds that hovered around the summit the entire time we were at the lake.
