Alberta Falls - July 22, 2005
My wife and I have been visiting RMNP for nearly a decade now. We took a break in 2004 and were glad to return this year. We had never been to Alberta Falls and having hiked the Odessa Trail a few days before we really needed a short one. Having seen many midday pictures of the falls I wanted to get there before the crowds and lighting ruined the shot. I took a lot of frames of the falls and the shooting area is somewhat limited, but I really liked the way this one came out. I think many people pass through this area quickly on their way to Timberline Falls or beyond before the afternoon showers come, but for us on this day this was the perfect hike. It's also a good first hike or acclimation hike for those of us coming up from near sea level! The image was shot with a Konica Minolta 7D on a tripod. Exposure was 1/8 sec @ f/8 with +5ev compensation. ISO was 100 and an 81a filter was used to warm the shadows. Thanks to all the photographers that contribute to the site for making my images better.
